Vintage Fret Shop Appraisal ServiceWe do informal appraisals without charge if you bring your instrument to the Vintage Fret Shop. Sometimes, we can help over the telephone. Feel free to call us at (603) 968-3346 between noon and 5PM, Eastern time. Due to the high volume of email requests, we're no longer able to do free appraisals by email. In an informal appraisal, we examine and discuss an instrument, and give the owner a chart, showing wholesale, retail, and consignment values of the instrument, and specifying repairs that may be needed to put the instrument in saleable condition. For formal appraisals, which are sometimes needed for litigation or insurance, there's a charge of $40 per hour. The usual documentation takes half an hour, unless extensive photography or research is required. |
